When I started working at the Directory of Social Change, we had this conference Youth and Opportunity. And I remember the opening speech by Debra Allcock Tyler, our CEO: 25 minutes of inspiration! I couldn't believe my ears: she kept going on and on about how we need to engage with the youth and that the problem is not them but what WE do WITH them and notthe half solutions we throw at them.
I am was so happy to hear that the CEO of the largest provider of training to the charity sector says there is enough money: therefore it can be done!
Debra telling us that the solutions lie in our hands, and that it is only a matter of work together. And at the end of the speech, I was left with one thought.
So many people NEED to watch that speech, from the youth to the government, schools, parents, corporate people and the third sector. I believe that we would all live in a better place if everyone agreed with Debra that...
...our youth are not everyone's problems, but everyone's solutions! - Debra Allcock TylerThank you Debra!
Thanks to the Directory of Social Change (DSC), for giving us the footage of Debra's speech.
